Our Youth

Greetings from the Met Youth Board!

We are thrilled to announce that this April and May we are offering for the first time ever, Regional Youth Assemblies, in four host cities across Canada for Met Youth (youth of our Greek Orthodox Metropolis), ages 14-25. Our host cities this year are Toronto, ON, Victoria, BC, Halifax, NS and Winnipeg, MB. Regional Assembly dates and registration deadlines are as follows:

Regional Assembly (Weekend, Registration deadline)

  • Toronto, ON (April 27, 28, 29 – March 23, 2012)
  • Victoria, BC (April 27, 28, 29 – March 23, 2012)
  • Halifax, NS (May 4, 5, 6 – April 1, 2012)
  • Winnipeg, MB (May 11, 12, 13 – April 1, 2012)

Our theme for the 2012 Regional Youth Assemblies is Orthodoxy in the Modern World. As young Orthodox men and women, we know that although it is important to take pride in the rich traditions and timeless teachings of our faith, it isn’t always easy to live an Orthodox Christian life. It will never be! For as long as there is evil and temptation in the world, we have to struggle with our humanity and strive to become like Christ: perfect in His humanity and perfect in His divinity. This year’s theme will be the focus of youth workshops, team-building activities and speaker sessions. Each assembly will also include social outings hosted by the Met Youth Board – a perfect opportunity for networking and making life-long friendships!

Full details and registration packages are available on our NEW! website www.metyouth.ca and have also been attached to this email. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at youth@metyouth.ca.

May you have a blessed Lent and we look forward to seeing you at the 2012 Regional Youth Assemblies!

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Fr. Ted Paraskevopoulos, National Youth Director

Ms. Vikki Tsekouras,  President, Metropolis Youth Board
